Ok to all those bashing for someone checking out a free DAW - I do have my main DAW that I paid good money for. Since the other is free however, I thought I would just give it a shot for kicks and compare it to my main DAW. It was never about cheaping out - it was just about testing out new software that cost nothing to try out . Thanks for Rustam’s tips Click your mouse on any toolbar button for its command to be executed. Note: If you are installing REAPER for the first time, or if you wish to replace an earlier version of REAPER with this one, you should accept the default destination folder and not enable portable install. If you wish to install this alongside an existing earlier version, change the default directory (e.g. to \REAPER5) and enable portable install. This will ensure that your earlier settings and preferences will be preserved separately. Tip: If you choose not to install any REAPER program elements or options, you can later change your mind by simply running the install program again. REAPER is friendly with your system resources and doesn’t affect your computer’s performance. Even so, it responds promptly to commands and works flawlessly. I know at least 2 people (a fellow musicians) who work ar 96k often and not have any related to high SR problems.

REAPER supports Input Aliasing. This is the ability to give your own names to your audio inputs. It can be used to shorten the long names that the system will often give to these inputs, especially when your device supports multiple inputs. An example of the use of this feature might be to change names like Analog In 1 Delta 1010 (1), Analog In 2 Delta 1010 (1) and so on to just Mic/Line 1, Mic/Line 2, etc.
Extensive customization opportunities are provided through the use of ReaScript (edit, run and debug scripts within REAPER) and user-created themes and functionality extensions.

Efficient and fast
Is there a way to turn of VST plugins completely? I see it keeps scanning it upon startup. This might rule out some problems.
